More About First Lieutenant Hinkle

Lieutenant Hinkle was killed in a plane crash. Lt. Hinkle and other service members were being ferried to Northern Ireland for a week's leave. On the way there, the aircraft crashed into the southern slope of Mount Barrule, killing all 31 passengers and crew members. He enlisted in the Army in April 1941. He had been employed by the Department of Taxation as an auditor. He was a certified public accountant. He was survived by his wife Betty, his parents, a sister and a brother.
