More About Major Scudder

Major Hervey Clark Scudder Jr. married Elizabeth Maddock in 1930 with whom he had two sons, Hervey Clark Scudder III born and Charles Maddock Scudder. He flew as an observation pilot in the 112 Field Artillery Unit of the NJ NG before the war with the rank of second lieutenant. He served as interim base commander at Biggs Field in El Paso, Texas, and as accident investigation officer at Tinker Field in Oklahoma City before going to New Guinea. Major Scudder died in a crash of a C47 when the engine failed shortly after take off.
