Jerome Henry Delisle was inducted into the US Army on April 7, 1941. After completing his training, he was assigned to the 5th Infantry Division at Fort Custer in Michigan.
In August 1941, he took a physical examination and passed, becoming an aviation cadet. On April 8, 1943, he was transferred to Will Rogers Army Airfield in Oklahoma where he served with the 87th Fighter-Bomber Squadron of the 46th Bombardment Group. On May 15, 1943, while piloting an A-20G Havoc aircraft 2 miles southwest of Will Rogers Army Airfield, he suffered a stall, causing his aircraft to go into an unrecoverable spin, which resulted in a fatal crash for 2nd Lieutenant Delisle.
2nd Lieutenant Jerome Henry Delisle is interred at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau, Wis. Second Lieutenant DeLisle died in the crash of an A-20 aircraft 2 miles southwest of Will Rogers Field, Okla.
